Manicure Must Haves

In another lifetime I use to be a nail tech… I thought it would be something good to have in my ‘back pocket’ so during a summer on college break I went to beauty school full time, tested and was handed my California license. I never made a career out of it, focusing on my degrees but I always liked the information I had and my friends and family liked that I could do their nails. It was a fun summer and one I look fondly back on.

So needless to say I’ve always had a love of nail products (ok, OBESSSION shhh), different polishes, glitters, acrylic products – I’ve tried them all. I think it is important for Moms (YA YOU OVER THERE) to take some time for themselves. You can do this by giving yourself a quick mani/pedi or getting one. I personally like to sit back in a massage chair relaxing away from home. But when I have a minute to care for my nails or want to just give myself a manicure I grab these items. Grab these products so you can have soft hands and polished nails for the holidays, aka being ready for all the family photos and company you will have.

I grew up with my mom using Barielle nail cream. I would always sneak into her beauty items and rub some on my fingers so I felt special and grown up. So of course I still use the product, it is amazing and really does strengthen you nails and helps soften cuticles.

If you are looking for a 100% natural or less expensive cuticle/nail cream I would suggest Burt Bee’s Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream. I like that it is compact and I can keep it in my purse or travel bag so I always have it handy (get it… handy.. haha, ok I’m done) while I’m on the gone. It’s often when you are sitting waiting for an appointment that you look at your hands and SHRIEK “omg look at my cuticles they’re a mess”! Grab this, rub it on and enjoy the scent and softness that ensues.

I’ve used every polish under the sun and thought I was die-hard OPI fan and never thought another could have my love, I found different when I tried China Glaze. When I get a manicure or pedicure I automatically reach for a china glaze color or bring my own. I have found that the color lasts and stays on the nails better than any other. My favorite color for the Holidays and the one I have adorning my own nails and toes is China Glaze’s Phat Santa. The name gives you a chuckle and the color is a deep red that lasts.

What are you favorite manicure items ?

These products were not sent to me, I just LOVE them and have used them forever so I’m giving a shout-out to my favorite companies.

I will have to give China glaze a try. I always use OPI Top coat for that finishing touch.
