We met Dana from Baby Elan on Twitter and we just loved her and her site from the start, it’s fresh, fun and informative! Here’s all about Dana & her blog Baby Elan Daily.
Tell us a little about yourself: As a SAHM {who thinks she’s a WAHM but hubby disagrees} of 3 boys {and pregnant with baby #4…ultrasound soon and YES, fingers crossed I’m allowed to shop for pink this time around!!} my life screams lounge pants, crafts, ABCs, bike rides, and tee ball! I long for spa days, a hair style with no grays, and a glass of wine alone with my hubby who works too much…BUT, I’m grateful and thankful and adore my life! Looking in from the outside, you may say boring but we say blessed with a hint of insanity!
What made you decide to blog? My business partner Sarah got me hooked almost 4 years ago! And I mean HOOKED with no turning back!!
What is your general audience for your blog ? Mother with small children, both working moms and SAHM plus a local Charlotte, NC following.
Do you see your blog growing or do you want to keep things small ? Increasing traffic, higher involvement in the community {both local and online}, and reader appreciation are always top of my list BUT not to the extreme as most. This is our hobby, family comes first and since we’re all moms, my editors and myself need to keep BabyElan {daily} manageable, with steady growth in the right direction!
Why are you passionate about blogging ? It’s almost like venting for me, my kids and husband don’t want to listen about the most amazing pound cake I made yesterday or how gorgeous and versatile my new purse found on Etsy is, and I’m a chatter-box {through email, don’t make me pick up the phone} so it’s my outlet {daily} and I’m just hoping the readers on the other end care about what I have to say on each given day!
What challenges do you face through blogging ? Time management…I do have plenty of side projects in my local community {ELAN Card Charlotte, All About Baby Charlotte, and other little projects with my two fabulous business partners} so finding the time to type can be difficult. The words flow for me once I sit down and relax and start blogging, so I’m done quickly, but it has to be after dinner is figured out, after homework, and baths, and laundry and that press release that has been hanging over my head, and my inbox is cleaned out!
What do you wish you know before you started blogging, any sage advice for new bloggers ? Enjoy it! If it ever stresses you out enough to affect your life as a parent or any relationship in your life, it’s not worth it! This should be fun for all involved, an outlet to get your opinions heard, and a way to meet new people and create lasting relationships around the globe, but before you start, do understand that you have priorities, and blogging should not be top of the list!
